Acropolis Museum Unveils «On Health» Program for European Heritage Days

English

The Acropolis Museum is offering a unique program titled "On Health: Tracing a Universal and Timeless Asset" as part of the European Heritage Days celebration. This special event provides a fascinating glimpse into the world of health and hygiene in ancient Greece.

Guided by museum archaeologists, participants will explore the archaeological finds from the ancient neighborhood beneath the Acropolis, along with artifacts housed in the newly established Excavation Museum. The program delves into ancient perceptions of well-being, examining how people cared for their bodies and souls in the past. Attendees will gain insights into both the scientific knowledge and religious significance of health in antiquity.

This year's program aligns with the European-wide theme of "Tracing Routes, Networks, and Connections in Cultural Heritage," highlighting the links between past and present healthcare practices.

The "On Health" program is scheduled for Sunday, September 29th, with two sessions: 10:00 AM (English) and 12:00 PM (Greek).

Participation is limited to 20 visitors per session, and online reservations are required. Visitors must also purchase a regular day ticket and present their reservation code at the ticket counter 20 minutes before the program begins.

In addition to the program, the Acropolis Museum will offer free entry to all its exhibition spaces on Sunday, September 29th, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, as part of the European Heritage Days celebration.
