Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Friday chaired a teleconference meeting with the Operations Coordination Centre in Larissa and was briefed about the latest developments regarding actions for the relief and recovery of the flood-stricken areas.
The prime minister placed special emphasis on the timely payment of compensation to flood victims, which - as reported by government officials - it is expected to begin in the next few hours. It should be noted that for the villages that were entirely flooded by the unprecedented phenomenon, the payment to the residents will be made automatically, without the need to submit an application, based on data processed by the Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection and the Independent Authority of Public Revenues. At the same time, the submission of applications to the first aid platform, arogi.gov.gr, continued.
Mitsotakis was also informed about the disposal of animals carcasses from the affected areas, which is rapidly proceeding with the assistance of the Armed Forces. During the teleconference it was emphasised that efforts are being made so that the Athens-Thessaloniki National Highway will be safely reopened to traffic very soon.
