New Democracy is the only party in Greece that reflects the concerns and expectations of ordinary Greeks, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said on Wednesday in the district of Haidari, during a tour of west Attica suburb.
Addressing the citizens of the municipality, he pointed out that he has walked the streets of this area many times, as a member of parliament, as a minister and as the prime minister.
"Together we managed to achieve something that a few years ago might have seemed like an elusive dream: to make New Democracy the first party in western Athens. More specifically, we got 38% and SYRIZA got 19% in Haidari and we owe that to all of you," Mitsotakis said.
"We owe this to the older supporters of the party, whom I always want to mention because you kept the party standing in difficult times. But we also owe it to many new friends, who came and joined our great progressive faction because, today, New Democracy is the only truly popular party in our homeland, which expresses the concerns and expectations of all Greeks," the premier added.
