An operation was underway on Monday to free approximately 90 passengers trapped on a train on the Diakopto-Kalavryta rack railway, which was brought to a standstill due to landslides near the area of Niamata.
According to the Fire Department, all the passengers are in good health. Digging machinery from the Western Greece regional authority are expected to starting removing the soil and fallen rocks.
Fire brigade and police forces are on the scene to provide assistance if needed, while the passengers are to be transported by bus.
