PM Mitsotakis' statement on the Greek humanitarian aid mission members who lost their lives

English

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Monday uploaded a post on social media regarding the members of the Greek humanitarian aid mission who lost their lives or were injured in a traffic accident in Libya.

"It is doubly painful to mourn lives lost while saving other lives. And at the same time, to worry about the health of our people, who had sought to ease the suffering of other people. Members of the Armed Forces who travelled to Libya to help after the natural disaster that hurt our country as well," the prime minister said in a post.

"In a tragic accident we mourn, unfortunately, five members of the Greek mission. A drama that happened while they were performing the noble duty of humanitarianism and international solidarity.

"The whole country mourns. My thoughts are with the families of the victims and the 10 injured people. The state will stand by their side," Mitsotakis concluded.
